Every day, the world’s largest migration takes place in the ocean, cycling nutrients and carbon. Across the globe, a diverse group of organisms come up to the ocean’s surface at night to feed, then move down to darker waters during the day time to escape predators. Artificial lights at the ocean’s surface attract some organisms and repel others, potentially altering food webs and disrupting the carbon cycle that our planet depends on.
