Elizabeth Marino

Liz, a recent graduate of Columbia University with a degree in American Studies and History, is the 2021 American Women’s History Initiative “Because of Her Story” intern with the Ocean Portal.  After writing her undergraduate thesis, “Building a Legacy: How Martha Washington and Abigail Adams Established Precedent for the Role of First Lady,” her interest in women’s history brought her to the Ocean Portal to write about the history of women in ocean science.
