The comic reads: "Sea turtles follow their noses to plankton that makes DMS. Not in Antarctica! They'd freeze! They don't have any cryoprotection foundation layer. Plankton at the North or South Pole tend to have higher DMS concentrations than those in temperate or tropical water. That's why we think DMS can act as a cryoprotectant."
