Scientists processing ARMS (Autonomous Reef Monitoring Structures), small structures are like little hotels for settling reef organisms like sponges, tunicates and bryozoans. ARMS are used around the world as a standardized way to measure reef diversity. DROP scientists places ARMS in deeper waters for the first time with the Curasub in 2012 and will continue to retrieve and redeploy these units for several more years. They will compile a multi-year comparative dataset on temperature and biological changes on a vertical reef profile.
