Coral reefs are the most diverse of all marine ecosystems. They teem with life, with perhaps one quarter of all ocean species depending on reefs for food and shelter. This is a remarkable statistic when you consider that reefs cover just a tiny fraction (less than one percent) of the earth’s surface and less than two percent of the ocean bottom. Because they are so diverse, coral reefs are often called the rainforests of the sea.

Coral reefs are also very important to people. The value of coral reefs has been estimated at 30 billion U.S. dollars and perhaps as much as 172 billion U.S. dollars each year, providing food, protection of shorelines, jobs based on tourism, and even medicines.

Unfortunately, people also pose the greatest threat to coral reefs. Overfishing and destructive fishing, pollution, warming, changing ocean chemistry, and invasive species are all taking a huge toll. In some places, reefs have been entirely destroyed, and in many places reefs today are a pale shadow of what they once were.

I think that coral Reefs are made of Coral and Reefs. But not love. Oxytocin has no place in Coral Reefs.

Clown Fish have an average lifespan of 3 to 6 years. Finding Nemo came out in 2003. Nemo is dead.

But yeah, neat article.

A lot of corals is destructing in agathi island (UT of lakshadweep). That are doing uneducated locals of agathi islanders. They where sailing part of corals. That corals are using for building construction in agathi island.
This is very dangerous thing because our island is standing on the base of corals. Also that is very high ecosystem of sea.So destruction makes harmful for human being & ecosystem of sea.
The department of science and technology of agathi island is very careless and lazy.
Distraction is mainly taking place in eastern side of agathi. So very kindly requesting to stop the destruction of corals reefs

There is a variety of biotic reef types, including oyster reefs, but the most massive and widely distributed are tropical coral reefs. Although corals are major contributors to the framework and bulk material comprising a coral reef, the organisms most responsible for reef growth against the constant assault from ocean waves are calcareous algae, especially, although not entirely, species of coralline algae.
